A new restaurant specializing in Neapolitan-style pizzas and Italian pasta dishes has opened on 31st Street in Astoria.
Sotto La Luna, which means “under the moon” in Italian, opened today in a new dining room at 34-39 31st St. The restaurant occupied 2,500 square feet in the newly constructed development. known as The World Artisan. Marlet.
The restaurant is the first establishment to open in the lobby, a redeveloped warehouse, according to one of Sotto La Luna’s co-owners. The market can accommodate up to seven companies in total.
The new restaurant is co-owned by five business partners, including Valerio Marchi and Gina Mastrovito. The two men are business partners and are the owners of Sotto Le Stelle Pizzeria and SoleLuna, both located on Queens Boulevard in Sunnyside.
Marchi, 40, a Sunnyside resident from Italy, said the new restaurant combines menus from both places. Pizzeria Sotto Le Stelle is known for its wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas, while SoleLuna is popular for its Italian pasta and meat dishes, pastries, and espresso.
The new restaurant also serves fish such as yellowfin and oysters.
Italian coffee desserts like tiramisu are also on the menu while the restaurant will be offering its own line of ice cream in the coming months. The restaurant serves a range of wines and beers.
Marchi said the group had no plans to open in Astoria but were influenced after visiting the premises.
“We fell in love with the location, the place is beautiful with high ceilings and a large dining area,” Marchi said.
The space has a modern look with rustic and metallic fixtures as well as a number of plants. It can accommodate around 50 people, he said.

The restaurant has a large dining room with low Edison style bulbs. It also has an open kitchen surrounded by a high counter and stools where patrons can watch the chefs prepare food and slide pizzas into a large oven.
“We want people to come and have a fun experience. Nothing fancy, just quality food and very high quality service, ”said Marchi.
The opening hours are from noon to 11 p.m. Monday to Thursday, from noon to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and from noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
The restaurant is part of a market that will include a number of other restaurants, including a Colombian restaurant called Arepa Lady, a vegan restaurant called Urban Vegan Roots, and a vegetarian bakery called Elevenses.
Other establishments slated to open include Sala Astoria, a traditional restaurant offering authentic Spanish cuisine, and an Asian fusion restaurant called Potlux Kitchen.
Plus, residents will be able to learn how to cook Japanese-style dishes at the Yamato Noodle Company, which will offer classes when it opens.
